State Senator Julian Garrett Dies

 

State Senator Julian Garrett (R-Indianola) died after having missed the 2027 legislative session while battling prostate cancer.  Sen. Garrett represented Senate District 11, which includes all of Warren County and parts of Marion County (including the city of Knoxville).  The Governor will not call a special election, since the general election will happen before the Legislature goes back into session on January 11, 2027.  

Republican Hollie Zajicek and Democrat Sinnika Waugh are running to replace Garrett in the November 3 general election.
